深層水で海産生物を飼育することで生育が良くなるという経験的な現象の原因を解明した。すなわち、深層水に含まれる有機成分に注目して、魚類のストレス低減作用を見出した。そこで、有効成分が含まれる深層水を水産増養殖に応用する。
