Research overview：

液晶デバイスの機能・特性を決定する液晶分子配向制御技術として、現在実用化されているラビング法に代わる新しい液晶配向方法を提案し実用化する。従来のラビング法では、一様な配向しか実現することができないが、本提案手法では、レーザー直接描画法により、任意の領域・方向の微細グレーティング構造を作製し、サブミクロンサイズの領域で任意の方向の液晶配向を実現できる。
