Research overview：
小さなRNAが引き起こす遺伝子発現抑制現象をRNAサイレンシングと称します。RNAサイレンシングは、発生、器官形成、代謝などに必須な遺伝子の発現を制御することによって、あるいはトランスポゾンやウイルスの侵入からゲノムを守ることによって、生命維持や種の保存を確固とします。本研究では、小さなRNAによる、生命活動の基盤となる遺伝子制御プログラムを理解することで、生命の分子設計図の解明に寄与することを目指します。
