高機能バイオ分子を創出するための新技術・進化バイオテクノロジーの展開を目的に、高速分子進化のための基盤技術の開発、相同組換えによる高速ゲノム進化法の開発、医療応用として生理的病理的に重要なタンパク質の解析と創出、環境応用として環境浄化能等のある微生物・植物の研究を行う。
