It is a portal site for the INSDC(International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration), which is an initiative operated between DDBJ, EMBL-EBI and NCBI. Each organization operates DNA databases in close coordination and cooperation with each other to achieve common accession numbers, and standardize data format (INSD-XML). The databases are called the International Nucleotide Sequence Databases (INSD).
