Research overview：
手足を持たないヘビの細胞を、手足の元となる四肢前駆細胞へと転換し、ヘビ四肢、すなわち“蛇足”を構築することはできないか。本研究では、これまで蓄積された発生生物学の知見と、リプログラミング、ゲノム編集など近年開発された革新的技術を結集することにより、この「仮想器官」の人工創出に挑戦します。この試みから得られる成果は、器官発生原理理解の深化および細胞再生治療技術の開発促進に資することが期待されます。
