私達は、従来、光を取り込むための器官として認知されてきた眼が、物質を取捨選択して能動的に取り込み、情報処理を行うという新たなパラダイムを確立することを試みます。どのように取捨選択するのか、取り込んだ物質をどのように解釈し役立てるのか、その代償は何か、その制御に失敗すると何が起こるのかなど、この経路の特徴を明らかにすることにより、新たな眼の理解とその応用シーズの創出を目指します。
