微生物に対して,指向性進化法(directed evolution)等の手法を用いて大幅な機能改変を実施すると共に,近赤外光等での光操作技術や標的化のための新たな光操作技術を導入することで,光で操作可能な「オプト微生物」を開発し,ガン創薬や感染症創薬等への応用の可能性を示す.
