Research overview：
DNAメチル化などのエピゲノム修飾は長期的遺伝子抑制記憶であり、動植物ゲノムに多く含まれる転移因子やウイルス等の有害配列に特異的に蓄積し、発現を抑制します。私は、植物がエピゲノム修飾をゲノム上に正しく構築する機構解明や、その自然界での役割の理解に加えて、それらを基軸とした生物種横断型人為的エピゲノム編集技術の創出と発展的応用により、SDGs達成に貢献しうる“GMOフリー” な有用植物作出技術の開発に挑戦します。
