Research overview：
大気中に増加した二酸化炭素の多くは海洋に吸収されます。生物源シリカは、過去の海洋環境を記録する地質試料として有望です。本研究では、様々な水環境に生息する現世の珪藻殻を分析し、珪藻殻に含まれるホウ素同位体比を用いてpHを求める換算式を構築します。また、堆積後の続成作用を調べ、指標の長期安定性を検証します。pH記録を長時間スケールに拡張することで、二酸化炭素吸収における海洋の機能解明に貢献します。
