Research overview：
オタマボヤは、ハウスというセルロースを含む袋に棲んでいます。ハウスは海水中の餌を濾過する流路やフィルターをもつ複雑構造です。オタマボヤは、折り畳んだ状態のハウスを分泌して体にまとっており、これを膨らませるとハウスが完成します。このハウスの作り方から、細胞上でセルロース (繊維)をもちいて形を設計する工程を紐解き、「細胞による編み物」「動物性繊維による立体構築」という新しい細胞機能の解明に挑みます。
