抄録/ポイント： ルソン島北西部のパンガシナン州のボリナオ地方において前期更新世の深海堆積物から産出したオウムガイの貝殻を記載した。貝殻は破片だが,その特徴は現生のNautilus pompilius Linnaeus,1758に,条件付だが属せられることを示す。この発見はN.pompiliusの最初で最も古い化石記録であることを意味し,オウムガイ類の化石記録における鮮新世-更新世の間隙を補完する。新生代のオウムガイ目に関する化石生成論を簡潔に論じた。(翻訳著者抄録)
