抄録/ポイント： 固体表面に短パルスレーザを照射した際に見られる表面周期構造(LIPSS)について,従来の近赤外レーザに対して大きく波長・光子エネルギーの異なるテラヘルツ・遠赤外領域の自由電子レーザを用いて研究し,従来考えられていたメカニズムでは説明できない微細周期が形成されることを発見した.また,その周期構造はレーザの様々なパラメータに依存し,特に5Hz周期のマクロパルス数にも依存するという不可逆な履歴現象を見いだし,自己組織化臨界現象としての特徴を示した.(著者抄録)
