【要約】【課題】 8mmVTRのビューファインダやゴーグル型表示装置等に用いられる液晶表示装置において、小型化、高画質化を図る。【解決手段】 単結晶シリコン基板4上に、周辺駆動回路としてMOSFET5と多結晶シリコンTFT7を作り込み、表示領域のみ単結晶シリコンをくり抜いて透光性を付与してなる基板と、プリズム2の表面11に貼付した偏光板3とを貼り合わせる。【効果】 周辺駆動回路に高性能なトランジスタを用いることができ、また、直接偏光板と基板を貼り合わせることができ、部品数の削減によるコスト削減、小型化と画質の向上を図ることができる。

表示領域に薄膜トランジスタ、前記表示領域の周辺に単結晶シリコン基板上に設けた駆動回路を有するアクティブマトリクス型液晶表示装置において、前記単結晶シリコン基板に光学部材が直接貼付されて一体化されていることを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
