Claim (excerpt)：
外周面に装着溝が形成された円筒形状の継手本体と、この継手本体の装着溝に装着された弾性素材からなるリング状の止水パッキンと、から構成され、継手本体が接続する管に挿入されて、管と継手本体とを止水パッキンを介して止水する管継手において、 前記装着溝に止水パッキンを装着した際、止水パッキンの円周方向の伸張率が10ないし30%となるように、装着溝の外径が止水パッキンの初期状態における内径よりも大きく設定されていることを特徴とする管継手。
