【課題】処理対象物質中のそれら重金属を、簡易に効率よく、かつ安価に不溶化する。【解決手段】都市ごみ、産業廃棄物、下水汚泥などの固形廃棄物の焼却灰、排ガスの集塵灰、土壌などのように、水銀、銅、鉛、カドミウムなどの重金属を含む物質であり、さらに砒素、セレンあるいは6価クロムを含む物質も対象とし、10〜50%の水分を加え、粒子径2mm以下の粉末の硫化鉄を0.1%以上添加して、混合処理して、前記重金属を不溶化する。【選択図】図2
