【要約】【課題】重金属錯体ドープ素子に比べて、有機発光層に重金属を混合するという単純な工程で製造でき、高い発光効率を有し、濃度消光が小さく、長期間にわたって安定して使用できる薄膜EL素子ならびにその製造方法を提供する【解決手段】正孔注入電極2付基板1上に、正孔輸送層3を形成し、次に、発光領域4の正孔輸送性発光層として、[4-(2,2-ジフェニルビニル)フェニル][4-(ジフェニルアミノ)フェニル]フェニルアミンと、Irをそれぞれ、0.3nm/sec、0.01nm/secの蒸着速度で膜厚約40nmに形成し、発光領域中に、ほぼ単独の原子状態のIrを分散・混合する。次に、電子輸送層5を膜厚約20nmに形成し、陰極6を膜厚約100nmに形成する。
