【要約】【目的】鍛造性、被削性、耐衝撃性、曲げ疲労特性等を損なうことなく、耐ピッチング性及び耐摩耗性を改善し、高面圧下で使用される歯車、軸受け等として有用な機械構造用鋼及び機械構造部品を提供することを目的とする。【構成】 C,Si,Mn,Cr,V,Mo,Al,O等の含有率の特定された鋼材を使用し、これをA1 変態点を超え且つ[ 254×V1/3 +840 (°C;但しVは鋼材中のV含有率を表わす)]を超えない温度で、表面C量が[0.0034T-2.2 (但し、Tは浸炭温度を表わす)]以上となる浸炭処理を行ない、微細炭化物が均一に分散された浸炭硬化層を形成する。

重量%でC:0.10〜0.40%、Si:0.15〜0.50%、Mn:0.4 〜1.5 %、S:0.005 〜0.030 %、P:0.02%以下、Cr:0.3 〜1.2 %、Mo:0.05〜1.0 %、V:0.20〜1.0 %、Al:0.005 〜0.05%、N:0.005 〜0.02%、O:0.002 %以下の各要件を満たし、残部が実質的にFeからなることを特徴とする耐ピッチング性に優れた機械構造用鋼材。
