【要約】【課題】充放電容量が372Ah/kgを超える非水系リチウム二次電池を提供する。【解決手段】負極材料として、極低温(温度10K以下)で測定したESRスペクトルにおいて3200〜3400gaussに現れる炭素に帰属されるピークのうち少なくとも1つのピークの線幅が100gauss以上であること、好ましくは、更にX線回折における(002)回折ピークから求められる面間隔d(002)が0.337nm以下である炭素材を用いる。該炭素材は、原料炭素材を酸化雰囲気中において温度150〜800°Cに加熱することにより、製造することができる。
