透光性材料からなる広い面から光を出光させる機能を有する導光板の少なくとも一側面端部に、これに近接した線状光源を有するパネル用バックライトに於いて、線状光源を覆った光反射器の導光板側に位置する部分で、光源と光源に相対する導光板の端部との間に位置する光反射器の少なくとも一部分の間隔が前記導光板端部の厚さ未満となるように配置したバックライト。
