【課題】金属触媒や生体触媒などの特別な触媒、あるいは特殊な反応設備を用いることなく簡便に、且つ高収率でヒドロキシスチレン誘導体、及び、アセトキシスチレン誘導体を製造する方法の提供。【解決手段】一般式(I)(式(I)中、置換基R1、R2、R3およびR4は、水素、ヒドロキシル基及びメトキシ基のいずれかである)で示されるヒドロキシ桂皮酸誘導体を、有機塩基の存在下、疎水性溶媒中で加熱する工程を備えていることを特徴としている。【選択図】図1
