【請求項1】 有機ポリマー系の低レベル放射性廃棄物を、1)酸化ルテニウム(IV)触媒の存在下で超臨界水反応させること(以下「酸化ルテニウム触媒法」という。)で、及び/又は、2)窒素オキソ酸アルカリと窒素オキソ酸アルカリ土類塩との少なくとも1種以上の存在下で超臨界水反応させること(以下「硝酸塩酸化法」という。)で、低レベル放射性廃棄物を分解気化・液状化させる低レベル放射性廃棄物の処理方法において、
前記分解気化により生成する3H及び14Cを含む放射性気体を、アルカリ金属の又はアルカリ土類金属のハロゲン化塩を出発物質とする炭酸塩合成反応における、前記ハロゲン化塩に対する反応物質として直接的に又は変換して間接的に使用し、
該炭酸塩合成反応の反応生成物である炭酸塩、ハロゲン化アンモニウム(NH4X)のいずれか一以上の態様で前記3H及び/又は14Cを回収することを特徴とする低レベル放射性廃棄物の処理方法。
