【請求項1】基板上にSiあるいはSiGe結晶を含む導波路構造を具備する電気光学変調器において、前記SiあるいはSiGe結晶の<110>方向が基板平面方向にあり、前記導波路構造内を伝播する光の電界方向が前記<110>方向とほぼ平行となるように設定されることを特徴とする電気光学変調器。
