【要約】【課題】 安定した透明性と導電性を有し、しかもピンホール等の欠陥のないITO膜を得る。【解決手段】 酸化インジウムと酸化錫を主成分とするITO焼結体の原材料に、SiO2 とMgO、あるいはSiO2 とMgOとAl2 O3 をそれぞれ所定の割合で添加し、0.2〜20MPaの比較的低いプレス圧力でペレット状等に圧縮成形して、加熱、焼結させる。このようなITO焼結体を蒸発源あるいはターゲットとして、真空蒸着やスパッタリングによってITO膜を成膜すると、錫の含有量がITO焼結体と同じであってしかもピンホール等のないITO膜を成膜できる。

Claim (excerpt)：

酸化インジウムと酸化錫を主成分とするITO膜成膜用のITO焼結体の原材料に、前記ITO膜の錫の含有量を調節するための添加物としてSiO2 とMgOをそれぞれ所定の割合で添加したことを特徴とするITO焼結体。
