車速その他の自車両の走行状態に応じて変更される警報発生領域を自車両の前方に設定しておき、レーダ装置を含む障害物検出装置を用いて検出した障害物が前記設定中の警報発生領域内に出現した時にその障害物との衝突に対する警報を発生する車両の衝突警報システムにおいて、前記警報発生領域は、自車両の車速が所定値を越えると自車両の前方に拡大されると共に横幅方向にも拡大されることを特徴とする車両の衝突警報システム。
