自車から前方障害物までの距離を検出する距離検出手段と、該距離検出手段で検出された検出距離とあらかじめ設定された警報距離とを比較し、該検出距離が該警報距離以下の場合、警報を発する警報手段を有する車両用警報装置において、車両のエンジンの状態を検出するエンジン状態検出手段と、該車両のエンジンの状態に応じて、該警報距離を可変させる警報距離可変手段を有することを特徴とする車両用警報装置。
