【要約】【課題】 1.5V系で、腕時計用電源などとして使用するのに適した高容量でかつ充放電サイクル特性の優れたリチウム二次電池を提供する。【解決手段】一般式Lix Tiy O4 で表わされるチタン酸リチウムを正極活物質として用い、炭素材を負極活物質として用い、リチウム塩を有機溶媒に溶解してなる電解液を用いて、リチウム二次電池を構成する。上記一般式Lix Tiy O4 で表わされるチタン酸リチウムは、0.8≦x≦1.4、1.6≦y≦2.2、特にx=1.33、y=1.67の化学量論数を持つものが好ましく、また、炭素材としては人造黒鉛が好ましく、正極は上記チタン酸リチウムと導電助材とバインダーとで構成するのが好ましく、それらの組成比は上記チタン酸リチウムが70〜90重量%で、導電助材が5〜20重量%で、バインダーが1〜10重量%であることが好ましい。
