【請求項1】走行する自車の前後方向の路面撮影が可能な撮影手段と、略同じ路面領域について前記撮影手段が撮影した前方画像及び後方画像を取得する画像取得手段と、前記画像取得手段により取得された前方画像の車両が存在しない領域を複数フレームにわたって重ね合わせ、車両が存在しない前方画像を生成する生成手段と、前記生成手段により生成された前方画像の路面領域内の後方画像を同定する同定手段と、前記生成手段により生成された前方画像と前記同定手段により同定された後方画像との異なる画像部分から、後方画像の車両を認識する認識手段とを備えたことを特徴とする障害物認識装置。
